Brought my fam here for some Saturday morning dimsum. Cash only! You order up front and then pay right away. They have tables inside that you can bring your food to and eat at. The char siu bao is still delicious. We also tried the chicken and sausage rice which was well seasoned and tender. Only complaint was that the chicken wasn't hot.
Small traditional dim sum bakery/cafe with authentic Asian dim-sum and cuisine. Make sure to bring cash! They don't take cards unfortunately- this place has been a neighborhood staple for years for takeout- been going since a little kid, consistent quality throughout the years. Great prices, small bites and plenty of variety! Easy service and no fuss, we tried a variety of items: chicken and bbq pork buns, shrimp dumplings, beef and pork siu mai, pork potstickers, banana paper sticker rice and all the good stuff. Highlights shrimp dumpling and siu mai- also the banana sticky rice has been a childhood favorite. Everything so flavorsome and filled with juicy meats, Limited seating inside so its nice to grab a few and go for a picnic in Golden Gate or presidio park nearby.
A quick in and out dim sum spot on Clement. Service is fast and the food is ready to order. They're cash only and sell a variety of siu mai, har gow, chive dumplings, dried shrimp rice rolls, baos, etc. Each order comes with 3 dim sums and the amount of food is pretty bang for your buck. We ordered x2 of siu mai, x2 of har gow, and x1 of the shark fin dumpling. My boyfriend and I were pretty snack-ish and this was enough to share between the two of us. There's a couple of seats inside, but most people take to go. Be sure to ask for sriracha and soy sauce!
In today's economy, finding Bargain Eats is so rare when a bag of cookies at a bakery costs $10. A hole-in-the-wall in the Richmond district, Good Luck Dimsum is a no-nonsense, quick service eatery with steaming hot buns, dumplings, Chinese fried donuts aka 'youtiao' (油条), and other delicacies. I bagged a youtiao, an egg custard tart and 3 steamed bbq pork buns for under $10! What a deal! I had take out, but they do have indoor seating - just don't expect luxury. Expect good Dimsum at affordable prices and...we could all have a bit of Good Luck!
This was a bit out of the Chinatown area and we were curious. Since we wanted to walk through the Presidio, we visited this cafe. Order and pay at counter, there are tables and chairs inside to consume. Very clean! We had all 3 shiumai types. Chicken was super dense and too lean. We liked the beef and pork ones. Couldn't tell them apart after a few :) The dried shrimp rice roll was drier than expected but tasty and the texture was enjoyably chewy. The charshiu bun was very good, with a fluffy bun. Came out of the steamer but got cold fast, should eat first. The egg yolk bun was sold by piece, and although the custard inside was yummy, we expected a different style with a granite yolk inside. The harkow was filled with shrimp and the skin was thin and complemented well. Sweet soy sauce and chilli sauce on the table. May need to bring my own vinegar the next time. We will come again to try the other varieties the next time!
If I can give this place a 6 stars, I will! Situated in the heart of the bustling Clement street, Good Luck Dim Sum always has a cozy, warm spot in my heart. They serve one of the most delicious dim sum in San Francisco. Their quality are comparable, if not even better, than the sit-down restuarants and it's half the price of the sit-downs! Pro-tip: they are cash only, make sure to bring cash. Food: 5/5. I adore their shrimp dumplings (har gow). I used to dislike shrimp dumplings because of the mushiness of the shrimp in the wrapper. But Good Luck changed my mind. I order baskets of shrimp dumplings from them. Their shrimp dumpling fillings are juicy, bouncy from the shrimp and crunchy from the bamboo shoots. The wrappers are chewy and not mushy at all. To be honest, I feel like these shrimp dumplings are as good as the ones in Hong Kong. I also like to get their potstickers and siu mai. They're both very tasty. Their egg tarts are super good too, with flaky crusts and a gooey eggy filling. Vibes: 4/5. Expect a long line on weekends! They can get quite busy and the line can be around 20 minutes wait. Once you get to the front, it's quite fast. The dim sum ladies would pack everything and you pay in cash. To order, there are slips of pink paper by the door to the right hand side. Take one slip and fill out your order. When it's your turn, you can hand the paper to the dim sum ladies. Alternatively, you can also say out your orders to them to practice your Cantonese :)
Great deal, great food! We arrived here around 11:40am on a Saturday. I was mentally prepared for a long wait. But the wait was just about 5-10 minutes, and there was a lot of turnover at the tables so we easily were able to sit (group of 4). We got 4 fried buns, 4 fried dumplings, 3 char siu bao, 3 har gow shrimp dumplings, 3 crispy sesame balls, 1 chinese sausage roll - all for $27 total! All of the above was delicious, 4 stars. Flavorful filling, fluffy buns, fried stuff had a good crisp. The sesame balls were probably the best I've ever had, 5 stars, that crisp was unreal! We got back in line for egg tarts afterwards (unclear if diners can order at the front of the line, but the wait wasn't too long), three for about $3.25. The crust was buttery and soft, the filling a little too jelly-like for me. 3.5 stars.
The family used to frequent this simple, quick, nothing fancy Take Out dim sum spot located in The Richmond District of SF. It's been years since visiting but was fortunate to get a box of goodies from relatives. The usual items (4 stars!): :: Shrimp and pork dumplings - as good as i remember :: Fried Taro Puff - okay. minimal filling. flavor was good - 2.5/3 stars :: Steamed pork buns - delicious filling or bbq pork :: Beef chow fun - had a hint of char that i like with bean sprouts and good amount of beef. Haven't had a good one in awhile and hit the spot :: Chicken chow mein - simple, delicious :: Steamed Rice Cake - lightly sweet, great texture and perfect! Brings back childhood memories....haven't found a good one in Oakland Chinatown so this was a treat! :: Sesame Ball - so good! not thick, lightly sweet, red bean filling. Service simple, reasonably priced and popular with the locals. Not touristy like Chinatown. CA$H ONLY. I definitely need to head to SF myself and get more beef chow fun and steamed rice cake!
This place has been around since I was a kid and it hasn't dropped off in any way, shape or form. Good Luck on Clement is quality dim sum at inexpensive prices. It's no-frills, local city folk frequented, take-out (mostly) type of spot that has been feeding generations of city locals and IMO a treasure for the Richmond. I remember one spring break in HS, going here with a good friend. He marveled at the prices being so low, but trusted me so we went all in on a variety of dumplings (steamed & pan fried), baos, sesame balls. We had a LOT to eat. We were stuffed. We spent under $11... It was unreal to my good friend that we only spent that much. Ha! It's great to see people's reactions when they first come to Good Luck. I cant believe I hadnt written a review for this Richmond staple all this time. But fast forward to this past month on my recent trip back home.. myself and 2 of my cousins were in search of a good meal after spending some time in Union Square. I brought cheap dim sum and everyone was in on it. We ordered 12 pork/shrimp siu mai, 6 har gow, 6 pan fried pork/chive dumplings, 3 char siu steamed buns, 6 turnip cake & 2 sodas + 1 water. Total was $36 and change... you just simply cant beat it. You just cant. We would have ordered more but it was after lunch and they ran out of jook. It was a cold and rainy day. We coulda used some jook and chinese donuts. The siu mai were better than I remember. Good size. Little bit of a snap when you bite into one. They were so good. The char siu baos were tasty. The har gow were good. It was fresh and they were good sized shrimp. The turnip cakes were good too. I should have ordered more. Pricing is grouped into sections and varies for example, as follows. 3 for $3, 3 for $4, 3 for $5 etc. This is old school and I hope they never change. Street parking only, cash only, take-out style only, there are a handful of tables, no chop sticks, they give you forks if you need it. The ladies that work there work fast and work hard. Know what you're gonna order when its your turn, pls. Everyone will appreciate the readiness... Richmond forever. Be back soon.
Great quality food for a grab-n-go dim sum shop! I got some congee and fried donut to go with it, always a solid option for lunch. PRO TIP: If you aren't Chinese or don't know what you want, if can be a bit intimidating to order from these ah yees. I suggest you decide your order beforehand to make it easier for yourself!
